Taking Your Medications As Prescribed

Did you know that 125,000 deaths occur annually due to people not taking their medication as prescribed? You may not realize how important it is to stay on your medication regimen, and how it can affect your health and well-being if you miss a dose. People who are most successful adhering to their medication have a relationship with their pharmacist.

We are pleased to share with you a new public education campaign from the American Pharmacists Association Foundation (APhA Foundation) called Align My Refills. It was designed to teach patients and caregivers how to engage with pharmacists through medication synchronization (med sync) programs to improve medication use and achieve better health outcomes.

Med sync programs help you improve your knowledge and ability to take your medication as prescribed – lessening the risk of missed doses, and providing a monthly opportunity to meet with your pharmacist to discuss your medications. Med sync programs are especially beneficial if you take or provide care for someone who takes multiple, ongoing monthly medications, or is new to chronic drug therapy.
